This year, the Swiss Theatre Meeting invites you to Ticino under the motto "Tutta la Svizzera in Ticino". Artistic Director Julie Paucker has selected six productions for the four days from Thursday to Sunday.

A production by the Schauspielhaus Zürich kicks off the season in Lugano on Thursday. Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull" by German director Christopher Rüping will be the Zurich theater's first visit to Ticino.

On the following day and on Saturday, the stage of the Teatro Sociale Bellinzona will be the focus of the theater festival: the Ticino production "Alcune cose da mettere in ordine" by Rubidoiri Manshaft and, based on motifs by William Shakespeare, the co-production "Tempest" by Michel Schröder are planned.

What is special about this production is that the Theater St. Gallen and the GHG Sonnenhalden comedy theater are bringing people with disabilities to the professional stage.

Sunday, the last day of the Theatertreffen, will take place in Lugano again. The transgender performer and activist Living Smile Vidya will present her autobiographical work "Introducing Living Smile Vidya"; the two artists from western Switzerland Igor Cardellini and Tomas Gonzalez will perform "El Viaje - Collina d'Oro", before Marc Oosterhoff from Vaud closes the Theatertreffen with his one-man show "Préparation pour un Miracle" for theater fans aged eight and over.

These productions from the various language regions of Switzerland will be shown on the stages of the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura and the Teatro Foce, both in Lugano, as well as at the Teatro Sociale Bellinzona. The plays will be spoken and translated into all the national languages.

The Swiss Theatertreffen will take place from May 23 to 26. Carine Bachmann, Director of the Federal Office of Culture, will open this eleventh edition with a speech. The supporting program, entitled "Futuro!", focuses on cultural policy issues and aims to take an optimistic look into the future. The festival, which has been held annually since 2014, aims to showcase the artistic, linguistic and cultural diversity of Swiss theater production.
