21st Century Orchestra celebrates its 25th birthday with concerts at the KKL

The Lucerne 21st Century Orchestra has dedicated itself to the entire spectrum of film music for 25 years and has not only made a name for itself as a permanent fixture at the KKL Luzern, but also in concert halls from New York, London and Paris to Dubai. This coming weekend, it will be performing a total of five anniversary concerts - with the symphony to "The Lord of the Rings" triology.

This work will now be performed on stage at the KKL for the first time since its premiere in 2011, according to a press release from the 21st Century Orchestra.

The five anniversary concerts at the weekend will take place on Friday at 7.30 pm, on Saturday at 2.30 pm and 7.30 pm and on Sunday at 2 pm and 7 pm.

The orchestra was founded by Ludwig Wicki, who is also its artistic director. Since it was founded in 1999, over one hundred professional musicians have been committed to the idea of bringing film music to the concert hall, it continues.

The orchestra plays music that used to be played live in cinemas for silent films, as well as melodies from older and contemporary Hollywood hits. It can look back on numerous world premieres.
