SBB will lift the interruption to the railroad line between St. Gallen St. Fiden and Goldach on June 10. However, the work following the landslide on Whit Sunday will continue. Only one of the two tracks will be open to rail traffic until the fall. The EC Zurich - Munich is canceled.

Trains will be running again between St. Gallen and Goldach from Monday, SBB wrote in a press release on Thursday. This ends a three-week total closure of the section between St. Gallen and Rorschach.

Thanks to stabilization work, safety is now guaranteed again after the landslide on Whitsunday so that rail operations can resume on one of the two tracks. Further work will follow over the next few months to permanently stabilize the slope. The track on the slope side is needed for the logistics of the construction work

The route between St. Gallen, St. Fiden and Mörschwil is therefore expected to remain single-lane only until next fall. According to the press release, there will be various restrictions until then

The Eurocity Zurich - Munich service will be completely canceled until June 9. From June 10, they will run as scheduled between Zurich and St. Margrethen SG for the time being. However, due to storm damage in Bavaria, it will not be possible to continue the journey between St. Margrethen and Munich for the time being.

The EC5 from Geneva Airport to Rorschach will only run to and from St. Gallen. In addition, the departure and arrival times of regional services on the affected line will change.

1500 cubic meters of earth removed

On May 19, a train driver discovered a landslide on the line between St. Gallen St. Fiden and Mörschwil. As a result, both tracks of the double-track line were closed.

Since then, more than 1500 cubic metres of earth have been removed to stabilize the slope, SBB wrote. The work was particularly challenging due to the difficult weather conditions and difficult accessibility.
