Army deployment at peace summit builds on previous missions

According to Divisional Commander Daniel Keller, the army deployment on the Bürgenstock is a major task. "We will be ready and help the police to concentrate on their core task," said Keller.
The army can build on some of its preparations, Keller told the media in Bern on Monday. Nevertheless, the deployment differs from previous exercises. "We are in a different place due to the geopolitical security situation."
However, subsidiary security missions are nothing new for the army, says Keller. His people are responsible for protecting important, critical infrastructure, for example, or for air and sea surveillance.
