Santésuisse and the FMH medical association welcome the establishment of a single health insurance association. For Santésuisse, it is important that the sector speaks with one voice again. The medical profession was surprised.

Her association is fully behind the new foundation, explained Santésuisse Director Verena Nold on Thursday afternoon at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. Two associations have never been effective in the political arena. There have always been efforts to reunite the two associations.

Their association will not disappear or be absorbed into the new body. Only the communication and politics division will be shared with the new association. All other areas of activity of Santésuisse will remain the same.

Nold mentioned the training of health insurance and social insurance trainees, special courses, the subsidiary for the industry's cost statistics for the Federal Office of Public Health, the production of insurance cards and invoice control for serious cases.

Nold did not see a connection between the founding of the association and the Federal Council's decision on Wednesday to introduce the new Tardoc single tariff structure and the first flat rates for patients. The previous associations Santésuisse and Curafutura disagreed on the tariffs.

Nold does not expect any further differences in this area, as the tariff structure is now in the hands of the new Organization for Outpatient Medical Tariffs (OAAT). This issue is therefore off the table.

The health insurance association Curafutura announced that it was taking note of the establishment of a new association at the beginning of 2025. Until then, Curafutura will "perform the tasks in the area of health policy and tariffs".

The second half of 2024 will be characterized by important steps to improve our healthcare system, Curafutura continued. Following the Federal Council's decision on Wednesday to approve the Tardoc, extensive coordination work will have to be carried out so that the Tarmed can be replaced on January 1, 2026.

The FMH medical association saw the new industry association as an opportunity to find constructive solutions for tariffs, as it announced in a press release. An unencumbered new start could show a way out of the dispute. The medical association assured the new association of its cooperation.
