The sailing boat that sank on Saturday in Oberwil ZG in Lake Zug was discovered at a depth of 80 meters at the bottom of the lake. A male person was also located there.

The boat sank on Saturday afternoon during a regatta. Two men were rescued, but a 56-year-old man had been missing ever since.

As the Zug criminal investigation authorities announced on Monday, the boat and the man were located at a depth of 80 meters at the bottom of the lake. They were discovered by the fire department of the city of Zug and the Zug lake police using a sonar device. Thanks to a diving robot, the Zurich cantonal police were then able to confirm that it was the boat and a male person they were looking for.

According to the criminal investigation authorities, preparations are now being made for the salvage operation. This is challenging due to the depth of the sea.
