Motorcyclist killed in an accident on the Jaun Pass

A car and a motorcycle collided on the Jaun Pass in the Bernese Oberland on Thursday evening. Despite rescue measures, the driver of the motorcycle died at the scene of the accident, as reported by the Bern cantonal police on Friday.

According to initial findings by the police, the motorcyclist collided head-on with the oncoming car in the municipality of Boltigen BE for reasons still to be clarified.

The deceased was a 55-year-old Swiss national from the canton of Fribourg. The driver of the car was uninjured. According to the press release, another motorcyclist fell in the course of the accident and suffered minor injuries. He received medical treatment at the scene.

The Jaun Pass had to be completely closed for several hours due to the accident, according to a statement. The Bern cantonal police began an investigation into the course of the accident.
