The "Municipality Saver Day Pass" is a general travelcard for public transport throughout Switzerland - just for one day. There are two price levels for 1st and 2nd class: if you buy early, you pay less.
There is also a difference whether you have a Half-Fare travelcard or not. Anyone who buys a "Municipal Savings Day Pass" must provide their surname, first name and date of birth. The card is therefore personal. However, it can be replaced if lost and a refund is possible in the event of illness, for example. In contrast to the previous municipal day pass, it can be purchased at a point of sale regardless of where you live.
If you buy a ticket up to ten days before your journey, you pay CHF 39 with a Half-Fare travelcard. The full price is 52 francs (2nd class). If you buy at short notice, you will pay more: 59 francs with a Half-Fare travelcard and 88 francs for the full price. The prices for 1st class are correspondingly higher.
According to Alliance SwissPass, the concept has advantages for travelers. Instead of having to visit the municipalities in search of day passes as in the past, prospective buyers can find out about availability on the desired date on the website www.spartageskarte-gemeinde.ch and purchase the day pass from the municipality of their choice.
The cards are available up to six months in advance. As the "Municipal Savings Day Pass" is personalized, it can be replaced if lost and a refund is possible in the event of illness, for example, as Alliance SwissPass states.
