A woman had a fatal accident while hiking on the Mürtschenstock in the canton of Glarus on Tuesday afternoon. The 57-year-old fell around 100 meters, according to the Glarus cantonal police.

The woman had previously been holding on to a loose boulder on a steep section. This gave way due to the load, causing the woman to fall. She suffered fatal injuries as a result, the police reported.

The woman was on a hiking tour with her 47-year-old partner on the Mürtschenstock in the Glarus municipality of Glarus Nord, it was reported. After an ascent via the western flank, the two wanted to continue via the eastern side of the mountain to Murg SG.
