SP Federal Councillor Beat Jans will appear at the Albisgüetli conference of the Zurich SVP in January. SVP cantonal president Domenik Ledergerber told SRF's Regionaljournal.
As the traditional SVP speaker Christoph Blocher had announced his withdrawal, it was unclear how the event would continue. At least in 2025, "Weltwoche" publisher Roger Köppel will step into the breach, as Ledergerber said on Wednesday evening. Ledergerber left it open to Regionaljournal how things will continue in the following years.
SVP members have been meeting at the Albisgüetli Conference in Zurich for 36 years. This year there were around 1000, and the conference has always been characterized by Blocher's speeches and usually those of the President of the Swiss Confederation. However, they have canceled several times, most recently Viola Amherd (center) this year for scheduling reasons. In her place, the top trade unionist and SP member of the Council of States Pierre-Yves Maillard gave the counter-speech on the AHV.
