Man falls to his death while blasting on Giglistock BE

On Wednesday afternoon, a man fell down a rock face on the Giglistock near Susten while blasting. He suffered fatal injuries, as reported by the Bern cantonal police on Thursday.
The accident occurred in the Giglistock area in the Bernese municipality of Innertkirchen. According to the initial findings of the police, two men were rafting when one of them fell over a hundred meters for reasons still to be clarified.
The emergency services who were called out were only able to determine that the victim had died, according to a statement. The victim was a 64-year-old Swiss national from the canton of Bern.
The course of the accident is being investigated under the direction of the Oberland regional public prosecutor's office. Blasting is the search for crystals in crevices and fissures in the mountains.
