On the way to fairer AHV pensions in the canton of Neuchâtel

Childcare credits must be credited in full to the person who has reduced their workload in order to look after the children. This was decided by the Neuchâtel Cantonal Court. It thus upheld an appeal by the director of Pro Familia.
The law stipulates that parental credits between spouses are halved when one of them retires. The director of Pro Familia Switzerland, Philippe Gnaegi, personally lodged an appeal against a corresponding decision by the AHV compensation fund.
He was of the opinion that splitting the childcare credits 50/50 was discriminatory and represented a de facto imbalance, as only his wife suffered a financial loss by reducing her workload in order to look after the children, while he continued to work 100 percent.
The Neuchâtel cantonal court ruled in Gnaegi's favor, as can be seen from the ruling, which is available to Keystone-SDA.
