The employees of the metal construction company Progin in Bulle FR went on strike on Monday morning. They are criticizing the fact that their August wages and child allowances are outstanding - and that the canton is preventing a solution.
Employees were informed of the company's difficult situation last week, the trade union Unia announced on Monday. Progin could go bankrupt this Tuesday, as was announced a few days ago. The company employs around 160 people.
At a meeting with union representatives, the management showed itself to be open to dialog, wrote Unia. It had declared its willingness to use remaining funds to pay the contributions owed to employees. However, the cantonal authorities blocked any payments to the employees.
