A 45-year-old mountaineer from the canton of St. Gallen fell on Sunday above Lake Limmeren in Glarus South. He sustained fatal injuries as a result.

The Swiss man was part of a tour led by a mountain guide with a total of four alpinists, as the Glarus cantonal police wrote on Monday afternoon. The reason for the 45-year-old's fall shortly after midday on the so-called Limmerenband is currently being investigated.
