The trial for the fatal landslide in Bondo GR in 2017 will not take place until next year. The Maloja regional court wrote this on its website on Monday.
The trial was originally scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. "Due to various circumstances, the trial will not take place until 2025," wrote the regional court. No further information is currently available, it told the Keystone-SDA news agency.
In the biggest landslide in Switzerland in recent times, eight Austrian and German hikers died seven years ago in August in Bergell below Pizzo Cengalo.
The main defendants before the regional court in St. Moritz are the then mayor of Bondo, FDP National Councillor Anna Giacometti, and employees of the Grisons Office for Forests and Natural Hazards. The court is to clarify whether the accused misjudged the danger situation in the days and weeks before the landslide and should have closed the paths in Val Bondasca.
