On Tuesday, the public prosecutor's office demanded multi-year prison sentences for a suspected fraudster couple from Bern. The man is to serve 56 months behind bars, while the woman is to receive a partially suspended sentence.
In her summation, the public prosecutor emphasized how brazenly and shamelessly the couple had defrauded the public purse and thus the general public.
While the couple presented themselves to the authorities as poor, overburdened but honest citizens, in reality they had led a life of luxury at the expense of the general public. The couple had hidden three million francs in an account in Liechtenstein alone.
The public prosecutor's office demanded a guilty verdict for fraud and seizure fraud, among other things. The man should be sentenced to 56 months' imprisonment. A fine and a fine should also be imposed. The woman should receive a partial prison sentence of 32 months.
