A one-year-old Rottweiler attacked and bit five people, including two children, in Adlikon near Regensdorf ZH on Monday evening. The dog had escaped from an apartment. The animal was euthanized by order of the veterinary office.

Shortly before 7 p.m., the dog attacked two children who were playing. A 5-year-old boy suffered serious bite injuries to his arms, a 7-year-old girl was injured on one arm and one leg, as the Zurich cantonal police reported on Tuesday.

Startled by the screaming children, several adults rushed to help. However, in an attempt to chase the Rottweiler away, the dog also attacked them. Two women, aged 40 and 33, also suffered injuries. The two children and two adults had to be taken to hospital.

When the police tried to catch the Rottweiler, it also bit a policewoman. According to the police, she was slightly injured. The dog was then returned to the apartment. The veterinary office ordered the animal to be put down. The owner agreed to this.
