Companies looking for workers are increasingly offering permanent positions again. In 2024, a third fewer temporary positions were advertised than in the previous year. Compared to 2022, the number of jobs advertised as temporary even fell by 60 percent, as a survey by recruitment agency Robert Walters Switzerland shows.

According to the authors, there is still a recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. "In 2022, many companies used temporary positions to avoid permanent hiring while performing essential tasks," the press release stated. The situation is now returning to normal.

The situation is somewhat different to the average for jobs in the finance sector. According to Robert Walters, the number of temporary positions advertised fell by 7%, which is significantly less than the overall job market. The demand for financial experts on the Swiss job market is high, according to the report.

The experts at Robert Walters expect the demand for temporary finance talent to increase, especially towards the end of the year. "Temporary finance professionals allow organizations to bring specialized knowledge into the company without making long-term commitments," the statement said.

The number of vacancies advertised in the finance sector has increased by 4 percent in the year to date, while the total number of vacancies has decreased by 1 percent.

According to a spokesperson, the survey is based on figures from the job vacancy analysis Textkernel Jobs Data. The data comes from national job exchanges, websites of organizations and websites of recruitment companies. For the article, the total number of jobs advertised in Switzerland in 2024 was considered, totaling almost 1.2 million advertisements. There were just under 56,000 advertisements in the financial sector and around 98,000 for temporary positions. The number of temporary positions advertised in the financial sector in Switzerland this year amounted to 3176.
