Czech President Pavel on a state visit to Switzerland

Next Tuesday, November 5, the Federal Council will receive Czech President Petr Pavel on a state visit. By inviting Pavel and his wife Eva Pavlová, the Federal Council is underlining the excellent relations between the two countries, it announced on Tuesday.

In addition to shared values, a lively exchange in politics, business and culture connects Switzerland and the Czech Republic. To kick things off, the President and President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amherd will open an economic forum at ETH Zurich. Security issues and cooperation in Europe will be discussed during visits to the Spiez Laboratory and the Federal Armaments Office (Armasuisse) in Thun.

On 6 November, the Federal Council will receive the state guest on the Federal Square with military honors. The official speeches are then planned in the lobby of the Federal Palace. In addition to Amherd, Federal Councillors Guy Parmelin, Ignazio Cassis, Albert Rösti and Beat Jans will take part in the political talks at the Bernerhof.
