Charles Michel does not want to drive Georgia into the “arms of Moscow”

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has spoken out against a boycott of Tbilisi due to the parliamentary elections in Georgia. He was in Geneva on Thursday and thanked Switzerland in relation to Ukraine.
"We should not take any action that would drive the Georgians into the arms of Moscow," the Belgian told some journalists. He spoke out against a boycott of the country at next week's meeting of the European Political Community in Budapest, which Switzerland will also be attending.
He also warned the heads of state and government of the EU member states who would refuse to take part in the EU summit chaired by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban the following day.
Michel also wants the US, whoever the president will be, not to reduce its military aid to Ukraine: "What would a sign of US weakness towards Russia mean in terms of interpretation by other authoritarian regimes, for example China?" he said.
