Missing hiker recovered dead in the Pilatus massif

A hiker who had been missing in the Pilatus massif since Thursday was found dead on Friday. According to a statement, the Lucerne police assume that the 65-year-old had fallen from a height.

Because the hiker, who lives in the canton of Lucerne, had not returned home on Thursday evening, the Lucerne police launched a search operation. An army Super Puma helicopter equipped with a thermal imaging camera was also used in the search.

The missing hiker was located by helicopter on Friday morning below the Klimsenhorn in the Nidwalden municipality of Hergiswil, according to Lucerne police. The rescue services were only able to recover him dead.
