Car driver falls down a slope in the canton of Glarus and dies

A 93-year-old driver plunged his vehicle 80 meters down a slope in Matt in the canton of Glarus on Wednesday afternoon. He died at the scene of the accident.
The man was driving his car to Weissenberge above Matt, according to the Glarus cantonal police. He was approached by an agricultural vehicle traveling downhill. In order to be able to cross the road, the driver reversed to a passing place.
According to the press release, he came too close to the precipice and his vehicle plunged down the slope and overturned. The driver was thrown out of the vehicle. Despite resuscitation attempts, he died at the scene of the accident.
The recovery of the passenger car required the use of a helicopter.
