Demonstration against violence against women in Bern

Several thousand people have gathered on the Schützenmatte in Bern on Saturday afternoon for a demonstration against violence against women. The demonstration will lead to the Bundesplatz, where speeches will be held later in the afternoon.
The rally marks the start of the "16 days against violence against women" prevention campaign. More than 90 organizations, including women's rights groups, specialist agencies, NGOs such as Amnesty International and parties such as the SP, the Greens and Mitte Frauen, have called for the event.
According to the rally call, combating domestic, sexualized and gender-based violence must finally be classified as a political priority. Sufficient shelters are needed for victims of violence. These must then also be financially secured in the long term.
