One week after a major fire at an industrial hall in Vétroz, Valais, authorities have lifted a range of restrictions, including the ban on grazing and harvesting forage. The Civil Protection has completed its control and cleaning operations of residues and slag in the affected area. It is now up to the farmers or, if none are present, the owners of the plots to check their land and continue the cleaning if necessary. Any remaining waste can be disposed of in normal garbage bags. The Office for Asylum is ready to support the farmers in this task, with around ten people available from July 18th. The fire broke out late in the afternoon and completely destroyed the industrial hall. It was covered with solar panels, which potentially contained toxic substances. Their combustion residues were driven at least as far as Bramois with the smoke. More than 140 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the major fire.
