Hiker on Stockhorn in Valais Fatal Accident

On Monday, a 19-year-old climber from Bern died in a mountain accident on the East Ridge of the Stockhorn in the canton of Valais. Three pairs of climbers were descending the ridge at around 1pm when the accident occurred. One of the alpinists slipped at an altitude of 3015 meters above sea level and fell, according to the Valais cantonal police. He was then presumably hit by a boulder. The rescue teams were only able to confirm the death of the 19-year-old. The public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation in cooperation with the cantonal police to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.nnnn
