The Swiss hotel industry has continued to recover in June, with 3.96 million overnight stays recorded, almost 10% more than in the same month last year. This increase is almost entirely due to foreign guests, with overnight stays from abroad increasing by 24%. Swiss guests, however, are still travelling abroad more than in 2019, with a decrease of 2.9% in overnight stays. Overall, the number of overnight stays in the first half of the year has increased by 13.8%, with 19.5 million overnight stays recorded. This suggests that the record set in 2019 will be broken this year. The increase is largely due to foreign guests, with the number of overnight stays from abroad increasing by 33%. Germany remains the most important source of guests, followed by the USA and the UK. Chinese guests are also returning, with 150,000 overnight stays recorded in the first half of the year, compared to 38,000 in the same period last year. Swiss guests are still choosing to holiday in Switzerland more than in 2019, with overnight stays up by 17%. Foreign guests, however, are still 7.5% lower than in 2019.nnnn
