ABB Robotics, a leader in electrification and automation, has expanded its Auburn Hills, Michigan headquarters by 30%, with a $20 million investment according to their press release. This development is part of a larger $170 million initiative to advance its US market presence in automation and electrification.

The expanded Michigan facility is set to become a pivotal center for ABB’s robotics innovations, particularly in emerging fields such as packaging, logistics, construction, and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.

Sami Atiya, ABB’s Robotics and Automation President emphasised that this expansion marks a significant step in ABB’s US market leadership goals. It aims to capitalise on the increasing use of robotics and AI across various industries, including food and beverage, healthcare, construction, and EV manufacturing.

The upgraded facility features a new Customer Experience Center to display ABB’s solutions. The site also houses a training centre designed to train over 3,000 employees as well as students, yearly on the latest in automation tech.

The expansion not only advances ABB’s capabilities but also benefits the Michigan community by generating 72 skilled jobs. The Michigan Business Development Program is backing this development with a $450,000 grant, reinforcing Michigan’s role in the robotics and automation sector.
