Bern are starting a study to explore the effects of regulated cannabis sales in pharmacies.
In the city of Bern, selected people can purchase cannabis products in certain pharmacies as part of a study. The aim is to investigate the health and social effects of selling cannabis.
In addition to the city of Bern, Biel and Lucerne are also participating in the study conducted by the University of Bern. A total of around 1000 people are expected to take part in the study.
More than 9,000 people in Bern have registered for the study, as announced on Friday. A total of around 700 people can take part in Bern.
Study participants are allowed to purchase cannabis products produced specifically for the study from designated pharmacies for a maximum of 24 months. Similar projects are also underway in the cities of Basel, Zurich and Geneva.
