On Thursday, a goods train derailed in the Gotthard Base Tunnel. According to the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), no one was injured in the incident. A spokesperson for the SBB said that a goods wagon derailed at the Multifunctional Station in Faido. No further details were available at the early afternoon. Passenger trains between the German-speaking and Italian-speaking parts of Switzerland are being diverted via the Gotthard mountain route, which will add around an hour to the journey time.nnnnnnnn
