The Neuchâtel Police arrested a suspected paedophile on Wednesday. The approximately 50-year-old man from the canton of Geneva had intended to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex. When he arrived at the meeting point, he was met by police officers. The police had lured the man into a trap via the internet, as stated in a press release on Thursday. For some time, the man had been chatting with a police officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, who had supposedly wanted to meet him in the canton of Neuchâtel. The arrest was part of the measures to combat paedophiles on the internet (Cyberpatrouille). With the consent of the public prosecutor's office, investigators from the Neuchâtel Criminal Police's Department for Physical and Sexual Integrity (ICS) are monitoring chat platforms for adults who attempt to seduce children under 16 in order to enter into sexual relationships with them. The public prosecutor heard the accused and opened a criminal investigation for attempted sexual acts with children.nnnnnnnn
