A Criminal Complaint Filed Against Members of the Animal Protection Board

Two suspended members of the Swiss Animal Protection (STS) have filed criminal charges against the association's president and former board colleagues. The charges include mismanagement of funds and excessive expense claims. The suspended board member, Martina Munz, confirmed the allegations to the news agency Keystone-SDA, stating that the criminal complaint was filed in April and the Basel prosecutor's office has opened an investigation. The prosecutor's office declined to comment due to the secrecy of the investigation and the protection of the rights of those involved. Munz said that they had tried for a year and a half to fulfill their duties as board members, including checking that donations were used according to the statutes, but were blocked. The charges against the president, Nicole Ruch, include mismanagement, questionable real estate transactions, misuse of donations and legacies, and excessive expense claims. Ruch denies the allegations. The STS Central Board has suspended Munz and Roux for repeatedly violating the loyalty and collegiality principle.
