On Sunday, a 70-year-old man tragically died while hiking in the Maggiatal in the Swiss canton of Ticino. According to the Ticino Cantonal Police, the hiker suffered fatal injuries after falling. The police were alerted by people who had found a backpack on a hiking trail near Alp Vegnasca ob Avegno. An initial accident reconstruction by the police showed that the hiker was heading towards Pianost di Sotto when he fell from an altitude of 1370 meters for unknown reasons.
