Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Vaduz Archbishop Wolfgang Haas on Wednesday. Until a successor is appointed, Vorarlberg's Diocesan Bishop Benno Elbs will temporarily lead the Archdiocese of Vaduz as Apostolic Administrator. The Pope had already made the decisions at the end of August, Haas wrote on Wednesday on the website of the Archdiocese. The legally effective official announcement in Rome was only now made. In an open letter to his temporary successor, Haas explained: "As far as my person is concerned, I will not answer any inquiries from domestic or foreign media representatives." The controversial archbishop will spend his retirement in the monastery at Schellenberg in Vaduz. Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Vaduz Archbishop Wolfgang Haas on Wednesday.
