In the Swiss elections, the Green Baselbieter Councillor Maya Graf easily secured her re-election, while her party colleague Florence Brenzikofer narrowly defended her seat in the National Council. In Baselbiet, there were no seat shifts. Maya Graf, 61, a biobäuerin from Sissach, secured 45,554 votes or 54.4% of the votes with a 44.77% turnout. In the National Council elections, the Greens had to go through a nail-biting experience. They saw an 8% drop in votes compared to their all-time high four years ago, when they became the third strongest force in Baselbiet's representation in the National Council. Florence Brenzikofer still managed to secure her re-election and came in second with 18,893 candidate votes. The SVP emerged as the clear winner with a 3.8% increase in votes to 28.9%, but failed to secure an additional third seat. Thomas de Courten and Sandra Sollberger were re-elected with 29,610 and 28,960 votes respectively. The SP gained 2.9% of the votes, securing their two seats with Eric Nussbauer and Samira Marti. Nussbaumer took the top spot with 33,859 votes, followed by Samira Marti with 32,885 votes. The FDP managed to retain their seat with 14.2% of the votes, despite a 2.3% drop in votes. Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter of the Mitte party got 10.6% of the votes, an increase of 0.9% compared to the results of the previous parties CVP and BDP four years ago. The GLP also saw a 1.7% increase to 7%, but this was not enough to secure a seat in the National Council. The turnout was 45.1%, compared to 42.5% four years ago.
