On March 3rd, 2024, Swiss citizens will vote on two initiatives concerning retirement. The first, proposed by the Swiss Trade Union, is for a 13th monthly pension for retirees. The second, proposed by the Jungfreisinnigen, is to link the retirement age to the average life expectancy, raising it to 66 years for both genders. The Federal Council and Parliament recommend rejecting both initiatives. Other initiatives, such as the Kostenbremse-Initiative, Prämienentlastungs-Initiative, and the Initiative "Für Freiheit und körperliche Unversehrtheit (Stopp-Impflicht)", are also ready for voting. The vote on the BVG-Reform will take place at a later date. This will be the first vote with new transparency regulations, requiring political actors to disclose campaign budgets over 50,000 francs and the senders of contributions over 15,000 francs. The information must be submitted to the Swiss Federal Finance Control by March 18th.
