Civilian guards again receive the same pay as members of the army

Civil defense personnel will receive slightly more pay as of January 1 of next year. This was decided by the Federal Council. The civil defense pay will be increased because the pay in the army was increased in November 2022 and the civil defense pay rates are based on those of the army.
The state government wants to ensure equal treatment again and is therefore adapting the Civil Defense Ordinance as of the beginning of next year. This was announced by the Federal Council on Wednesday.
At current levels of staffing and duty days, the amendment to the Civil Defense Ordinance will result in additional costs of around CHF 1.3 million per year. According to the press release, these costs will be borne by the agency providing the service. Normally, this is the canton.
