Grand Chamber of the ECtHR deals with the case of track and field athlete Semenya

The case of South African track and field athlete Caster Semenya will be heard by the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Switzerland has applied for the case to be examined. The first instance of the ECtHR found Switzerland guilty of discrimination.
In the summer, the first instance of the ECtHR found that Switzerland had violated Article 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) on the prohibition of discrimination in conjunction with Article 8, which protects the right to respect for private life.
In the fall of 2020, the Federal Supreme Court confirmed a decision by the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, which had declared a regulation of the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics, formerly IAAF) to be valid.
According to the guidelines of World Athletics, the hyperandrogenic athlete Semenya and two-time Olympic champion in the 800-meter run should take hormone treatment to lower her testosterone levels.
