The city of Lucerne has decided not to continue its collaboration with Finartis Kunsthandel AG. This means that the Dreilindenpark in Lucerne will not become a sculpture park.
The city council very much regrets that the project idea will not be implemented, the city of Lucerne announced on Saturday. In recent months, it has become clear that Finartis AG is not prepared to take the next steps in accordance with the letter of intent.
Finartis AG sent a letter via lawyers stating that the city of Lucerne informed Finartis AG at the end of October 2023 that it did not wish to provide any financial support. According to Finartis AG, however, the current structural defects in the buildings are serious. Blaming the costs exclusively on Finartis AG is not acceptable.
The buildings in Dreilindenpark are listed buildings and the park is considered a site worthy of protection. In 2018, the city council awarded the contract to Finartis Kunsthandel AG as the new tenant.
