The retailer Aldi is increasing wages in Switzerland by one percent for next year. According to a statement issued on Thursday, Aldi's minimum wage will rise from 4646 francs to 4700 francs per month.
According to the German retailer, this minimum wage is still the highest in the industry. In addition, all employees receive a one-off payment and a goods voucher. According to Aldi, 2.4 percent of the total payroll is spent on salary increases and bonuses.
Migros and Coop announced their wage increases just over a month ago. At Migros, the wage bill will rise by 2.1 to 2.5 percent across the Group. At Coop, existing employees with an income of up to CHF 4,800 will receive at least 3 percent.
Wages above this will be adjusted individually, it was said at the time. The minimum wage for new Coop employees will rise by CHF 100 to CHF 4,200 per month next year.
Experts expect inflation of 1.5 to 2.3 percent in 2024.
