Public prosecutor’s office not conducting proceedings against Zurich guild leaders

The Zurich public prosecutor's office is not pursuing a racism scandal at this year's Sechseläuten. It has deemed a sketch at a guild ball to be in bad taste, but not punishable by law.
The sketch, which included so-called blackfacing, was inappropriate and no longer in keeping with the times, the public prosecutor's office wrote, as the Tages-Anzeiger reported on Thursday. However, it is not up to the criminal justice system to morally evaluate behavior. This was stated in the non-prosecution order, which the newspaper had seen.
The CH-Media newspapers first reported on the conclusion of the proceedings by the public prosecutor's office this week. A video was leaked to the "Tages-Anzeiger", which is how the case became public in the spring.
The Zunft-Ball is a private event that is not part of the official Sechseläuten program. Around 140 guests were in the audience, including many representatives of Zurich's business community. The racist sketch was met with laughter.
