After Fribourg, Yverdon also introduces menstrual leave

One week after the city of Fribourg, Yverdon VD has also decided to introduce menstrual leave. It will be limited to a maximum of three days per month and twelve days per year.
The decision in favor of menstrual leave was made last Thursday evening at a municipal council meeting in the second largest city in Vaud. 41 councillors voted in favor of the introduction, 32 were against and five abstained. The daily newspaper "Le Temps" first reported on the decision.
Those in favour argued that menstrual leave would incorporate a reality into the organization of work that is part of everyday life for many women. It was also about making a taboo visible.
Opponents of the bill see menstrual leave as discriminatory and expensive. Women who suffer from monthly pain could already stay away from work today.
A week earlier, the Fribourg General Council had already decided to introduce menstrual leave. It is also limited to three days per month in the city of Fribourg.
