The lottery jackpot was not hit on Saturday either. Some people in Switzerland had hoped for 50 million francs. Now the excitement is focused on the next draw on Wednesday evening, when 53.2 million francs will be up for grabs.
Swiss Lotto did indeed crown a new millionaire in the draw on Saturday evening. However, the jackpot was not won in the draw. The numbers 1, 3, 16, 18, 29, 32 and the lucky number 4 would have been needed to hit the million.
According to the lottery company Swisslos, it would have been a record win in the 50-year history of Swiss Lotto if just one person had picked the six correct numbers and the lucky number. Swisslos was expecting around four million picks for this draw.
The biggest single win to date was achieved in 2014. In August, a lucky player scooped a sum of 48,598,075 francs.
The biggest jackpot ever won was a good seven years ago: 70 million francs were up for grabs in December 2016. However, three participants had to share this jackpot. They each received 23.4 million francs.
