Mô Bleeker from Switzerland is the new UN Special Adviser on Responsibility to Protect to Secretary-General António Guterres. Guterres announced the appointment on Tuesday in New York.

Bleeker will replace George William Okoth-Obbo from Uganda; she was most recently the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) envoy for the prevention of atrocities.

Previously, she worked in Colombia as an envoy for the implementation of the peace agreement between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the government, as well as for the peace talks between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the authorities.
