A 24-year-old man has to answer to the Zurich District Court today, Wednesday, for allegedly attempting to murder a prostitute. According to the indictment, he even tried twice. His target: her valuables.

According to the indictment, the double attempted murder took place in June 2018. The accused booked a prostitute via the escort service "Mia Escort" and met her in an apartment building. As soon as he was in the room, the 24-year-old put the woman in a chokehold from behind. He only let go when she was unconscious.

Thinking that the woman was dead, he then turned his attention to her handbag and sports bag and searched for her phone and bank cards. However, the supposedly dead woman woke up and stood up. When the Brazilian noticed this, he tried to strangle the woman a second time, according to the indictment.

When she was foaming at the mouth, he let go of her - again under the mistaken assumption that she was dead. The next day, he tried to withdraw money with her bank cards. However, the cards had long since been blocked. The woman survived the double assassination attempt.

The public prosecutor wants the young man convicted of attempted murder. He does not want to announce the required sentence until the trial. It is not yet clear when the verdict will be announced. The accused has already been serving an early sentence in the Pöschwies correctional facility since February 2022.
