The Valais railroad line between Visp and Zermatt was interrupted on Saturday due to an acute risk of falling rocks. The section of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway between Kalpetran and St. Niklaus was affected. Replacement buses were used for passengers.
The section of track was closed to the railroad as a precautionary measure, a railroad spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. There was no rockfall.
It was initially unclear how long the disruption would last. The rail company recommended that travelers allow for an additional "time buffer".
