President Amherd surprised by ECHR ruling

The President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, has expressed her surprise at the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) against Switzerland. Sustainability, biodiversity and the net zero target are "very important" to the country, said Amherd in Vienna.
Amherd said at a press conference with Austrian President Van der Bellen on the occasion of her visit to Austria that she was interested in the reasons for the ruling on a complaint by a group of Swiss senior citizens about insufficient climate protection. She was therefore eager to read the details of the ruling and would issue a statement afterwards.
