Zurich Airport has found four new tenants for its prestigious "The Circle" building. These include three service providers and a confectionery. As announced, the company is thus moving further away from the former image of the shopping center.

According to a press release on Friday, the first floor space of the Circle will now be rented by co-working provider Novu Campus, the SAP Experience Center and the ZRH Innovation Hub. In addition, Confiserie Bachmann will move into the current premises of the Jelmoli sports store in mid-2025.

"We are very pleased about the four new tenants on the alley level, who are an excellent fit for the Circle," said Stefan Feldmann, Head of the Circle at Zurich Airport.

Originally, the Circle was touted as the airport's new shopping temple. However, because the building complex was opened precisely during the coronavirus period in 2020, the plan could not be implemented at the beginning and consumers stayed away from the Circle. But even after the end of the coronavirus measures, the crowds remained rather modest. In addition, the retail space could not be fully rented out.

In February 2023, it was then announced that the anchor tenant Jelmoli would be closing its stores in the Circle and at the airport at the end of 2024 because the luxury department store would cease operations. Finally, in February 2024, the head of real estate at the airport announced in an interview that the Circle wanted to move away from its image as a major retail destination.

The office space, restaurants and hotels are always well occupied, but "certain adjustments" need to be made to the stores. The spaces that were originally intended for well-known retail brands could be rented out to companies in future, she said.
