Following Nemo's ESC victory, Sandro Niederer from the Transgender Network Switzerland is also hoping for legal improvements for non-binary people. The goal would be a third gender entry in Switzerland - or no gender entry at all.
Several 10,000, if not 100,000, non-binary people live in Switzerland who are affected by this, Niederer told Swiss Radio SRF. Non-binary people experience discrimination. However, he believes that society is now ready to adapt. Nemo's victory shows that non-binary people are being heard.
Nemo is campaigning for a third gender entry in Switzerland. On Sunday, SP Federal Councillor Beat Jans expressed his willingness to meet Nemo for a discussion. Nemo, for his part, said that he was looking forward to having coffee with the Minister of Justice soon.
Late on Sunday evening, ESC winner Nemo was greeted frenetically by around a hundred fans at Zurich Airport. The fan march turned into a demonstration for the rights of non-binary people.
