The anti-vaccination campaigners are not giving up after the clear rejection of the stop vaccination initiative on Sunday. "We are considering launching the initiative again," said initiator Richard Koller to the Keystone-SDA news agency.
One option would be to formulate the initiative more precisely, said the President of the Freedom Movement Switzerland (FBS), which launched the initiative. Another option might be a corresponding parliamentary initiative.
For the Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Public Health (GDK), however, the clear "no" vote shows that the initiative did not address a real problem, as they wrote in a press release.
The Stop Compulsory Vaccination Initiative demanded that interventions in physical or mental integrity require the consent of the person concerned. The initiators cited vaccination as an example of such an intervention.
