The Swiss Green Party is "delighted" after the Swiss electorate's clear "yes" to the energy decree. The party sees the approval as a "clear commitment by the electorate to the energy transition, climate protection and nature".
Thanks to a spirited campaign, the Greens were also able to convince the initially skeptical nature conservation circles, the party wrote in a press release on Sunday.
"The Yes to the Electricity Act lays the foundation for a determined expansion of solar energy. Now we must ensure that construction takes place where the potential is greatest: on roofs, on facades and on existing infrastructure," says Aline Trede, parliamentary group president and Bernese National Councillor, according to the press release.
SES: "Milestone"
The Swiss Energy Foundation SES is also "very pleased" about the adoption of the Electricity Act, according to a press release. The clear yes vote shows that the majority of the Swiss population "finally want to move forward" with the expansion of renewable energies.
The electorate thus endorsed the federal government's Energy Strategy 2050. The Yes vote is a "milestone for the energy transition and the nuclear phase-out".
SES President Nadine Masshardt said in a press release that the Federal Council, Parliament and the cantons must now swiftly follow up with effective measures. This is the only way to successfully phase out oil and gas, according to the Bernese SP National Councillor.
